In my humble opinion, this winter has been colder than is ever deemed appropriate & has lasted about 6 months longer than necessary. Therefore, imagine my delight when friend duties, namely a wedding, called David Cromwell & I to a much happier, much warmer climate … that of beautiful Southern California.

We managed to escape the city for a day & frolic about on Balboa Island … one of my new favorite places on the planet … We rented beach cruisers, had long talks with old friends, rode a three car ferry & had a handstand competition on the beach.

Jack won with a no-hands headstand … which, come to think of it, isn’t a handstand at all, but was incredibly impressive. Trust me.

We sang. We danced. We celebrated the summer that is in fact, alive & well in other regions of our beautiful globe.
